Thomas Edward Stevens, age 75, joined his Lord in heaven on June 29th, 2023. Born July 10th, 1947, to the late Charles and Gladys (nee Maune) Stevens in Cincinnati, Ohio. Loving Significant Other to Elaine Whaley. Beloved Father to Michael Stevens, Stephanie Robinson, and Kyle Stevens. Cherished Grandfather to Nick, Kayla, Jake, John, and William. Blessed Brother to Terri Stevens. Fun Uncle to Brian and Kevin Wilson. Also survived by numerous friends and brothers of the US Marine Corps.
Smiles. Smiles were Tom's bread and butter. Making people laugh, singing, dancing, these are all things Tom excelled at. There are too many stories to tell about Tom's hijinks, and we won't go into them here, but just know that if there was ever a cold day in winter, and it hadn't snowed enough to close school, the residents of Mt. Adams soon found that leaving their homes became a much more dangerous endeavor due to a newly formed sheet of ice covering the streets.
Tom was a "heck of a swimmer" as one friend put it. He loved swimming any chance he got. He joined the Marines in '66, serving in Vietnam, and earned the rank of Sergeant. He made many friends in Vietnam and kept many of them to this day. After coming back, he spent a few years doing Maintenance work for a company in Florida until a service-related injury started to take hold. When he could no longer work, he focused on his family. Giving them all the loving care, he could give, in between making sure their funny bones still worked. Everybody he met loved him, and he was a textbook example of charm and charisma.
If you ever meet a friend of Tom, ask them about him. They'll share too many stories to count, and that's only a fraction of who Tom was. We recommend just making sure you have a comfy seat and cold drink before you ask, because you'll be there all night.
