Thomas Gordon Hammons of Milford, Ohio died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 1, 2022. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathleen Howard Hammons, his daughter Joy Hammons Glaser, son-in-law Dennis Glaser, four grandsons, Tyler, Jacob, Luke, Jesse, a niece, two nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
Tom was born in Barbourville, Kentucky on May 16,1933 to Evie Eslie and Mable Witt Hammons. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his infant brother Jack Harlan Hammons, his brother E. E. Hammons, Jr., brother Glenn Douglas Hammons, sister Elnora Louise Hammons, and grandson Eli McFadden Glaser.
Tom was a veteran and served in the United States Air Force. He retired from General Motors in Ohio.
Tom was devoted to Kentucky, and his family's three generation Cumberland Lake property, Punch's End. After retirement Tom and Kate spent much of their life at the lake front home in Burnside, Kentucky. Tom was a naturalist and lover of nature. He was a true believer in God's gifts at the lake and the blessing of his family. His spiritual connection to his family, the lake front home, and nature was what he lived for daily. He had an artistic ability, loved music, animals and a good debate on most any subject.
Tom's wishes were to have no service. He will be cremated and his immediate family will have a private memorial.
