US Navy, Vietnam BURNS, Robert W. resident of Newtown, 12/12/17 age 72 . Devoted husband of 50 yrs. to Catherine Burns (nee Rust) Loving father of Tina (Kevin) Burg, Frank (Heather) Burns and Amanda (Jacob) Saylor. Brother of Juanita Stichtenoth, Mike (Nancy) Burns, Rolla Bailey, Sarah Burns, Betty "Booper" Burns, Lora Rogg, Mike Rust, Marydale Adams, Billy (Betty) Rust and Margie Dolch and the late Anna, Betty Jean, Janet, Larry, Melvin and Ira. Cherished grandfather of Melissa, Adam, Brady and Tyler Burg, Mason, Jonah and Paxton Burns and Robert, Kathryn Saylor. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Monday 12/18/17 from 11 AM until the time of service 12:30 PM at Moore Family Funeral Homes, 6708 Main St., Newtown, Ohio. Internment Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Robert was a talented singer, song writer and musician and could play any instrument by ear. He also worked for Heekin Can then Ball Co. or aka B-WAY until retirement after 30+ yrs. Robert joined the US Navy at the age of 17. Served 6 yrs on the USS WASP CV-18 as a Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class. He served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and during hurricane Ethel (1960s). Also served during retrieving the space capsules Gemini 4, 7 and 6A. Robert was a member of the Sutton American Legion for 20+ yrs and the ET Carson Lodge.
