Paul Varney, was for 71 years, the beloved and faithful husband of Laura (Wacker) Varney, who survives him. He is also survived by four devoted sons: Paul Alvin Varney (Judy), Dale W. Varney (Beverly), David W. Varney (Laurie), and Mark O. Varney (Teresita). He was blessed with seven grandchildren: Scott Varney (Winona), Brent Varney (Teresia), Chad Varney (Rebecca), Shannon (Varney) Wesdorp (Nick), Kyle Varney, Katie Varney, and John Varney. He was also blessed to see five great grandchildren added to the family: Benjamin, Samantha, Cale, Kaliah, and Carson.
Having lived a full and productive life, and reaching his one hundredth year of life, Paul passed into the presence of his Savior, Jesus Christ, at sunrise on December 3rd, 2015. He was preceded in death by his father, Ezra Clarence and mother, Zoah Glancy Varney.
Born on Nov. 24, 1915, Paul farmed to support his family, as did his fathers for at least three generations before him, on the ancestral farm near Williamsburg, Ohio.
Paul received the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of 38, and served the Lord in a variety of ways, throughout his years. For 25 years, he wrote a newspaper column, called "Food for Thought", which led readers to consider the holy scriptures in light of current events. He also created and maintained a series of literature racks for the distribution of gospel tracts. Paul was an unashamed believer in the finished work of the Lord Jesus, in that he died for our sins, was buried, and raised again for our justification. He was a faithful witness for the Lord, and very apt to testify: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Visitation with the Varney family will be 5:00 PM until the time of Service at 7:00 PM on Monday, December 7th, 2015, at the Batavia Baptist Temple, at 770 South Riverside Drive, Batavia, Ohio 45103. The graveside service and burial will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 8th at Greenberry Cemetery.

Loving husband, gentle father, we'll see you again; on Heaven's glory shore!
