Nellie Mae Bates

Nellie Barnett Bates, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2020 from Covid 19. Nellie is survived by her siblings, Eugene Barnett (Marie), JoAnn B'Hymer, and Jerry Barnett (Kathy); her children Sandra Anderson (Mike Schuerman), Dennis Anderson (Connie), Judith Anderson, Teresa Burkholder (Dave); her grandchildren Brittney Burkholder (Nick Abraham), Laurie Deardorff (Dan), Andrew Spurlock (Tabitha), Wesley Anderson, Bethany Parziale (Pete), Ben Burkholder, Michael Wehby, Michael Schuerman Jr, Nick Schuerman (Heather), Tammy Hirsch (Dave) and great grandchildren, Alivia Deardorff, Addyson Deardorff, Luke Anderson, Liam Spurlock, Chase Deardorff, Clyde Spurlock, Henry Hirsch, Lucie Hirsch, Carly Hirsch, Emmy Schuerman and Rush Sandlin. She was preceded in death by Donald Bates (Spouse), Clarence Barnett (Father), Anna Barnett (Mother), Tom Barnett (brother) and Wesley Jay Anderson (son). Nellie was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She had many friends. She was loved by her family, church family, neighbors, co-workers, Memory Care residents and Care Givers. She loved going to church, singing, playing piano, walking, reading the bible, gardening and cooking. She developed a sense of humor that gave everyone around her a smile or laugh. Nellie will have a private funeral. A celebration of her life for friends and family will be held at a later date when we are able to gather safely.
