Myrtle Patricia McCelland Gilden

Patricia “Patti” Myrtle McCelland Gilden, age 72, passed away on March 16th, 2023 in Anderson Twp., Ohio. Born Feb 5th, 1951 to Frank and Verdie McCelland in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Beloved Mother to Melissa Gilden. Cherished Sister to Margaret "Peggy" McCelland, Frank McCelland, Billy McCelland, and Ricky McCelland. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She had many pets throughout her life, including her dogs, Daisy, the late Ginger, and the late Jack.

Patti had a gentle soul.  She was a teacher her whole life, spending time with all manner of children. She was a prolific cook and baker. In her college years, in her first ever apartment that she loved dearly, she learned to make yogurt and granola, which would be her and her friends snacks almost daily. In college she was also a muse to a man in a traveling band, and would go camping, hiking, and "late night" swimming whenever she got. Somehow that didn't mess with her afro too much.

Patti always found a way to laugh and make people laugh. In her life, she spent a good deal of time taking care of her daughter, growing a bigger love of gardening with her. Her favorite color was purple due to how the color popped on flowers such as Lilacs and Violets. She would also pick up a love of Thrift and Antique shopping, taking many trips out to Appalachia's various Amish Communities.

A celebration of life will take place Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Moore Family Funeral Homes, 6708 Main St. Newtown, OH 45244, starting at 6pm. Time for visitation and condolences is scheduled for 1 hour before, starting at 5pm.
