Mireille (Miche) Kissing was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on April 22, 1948 to René and Emilie Lefort. She died peacefully at her home in Cincinnati, OH on June 22, 2023.
At 16 years old, Mireille left Haiti for a life in America. She became a proud, naturalized US citizen in 1982. Mireille lived all across the country, including in Chicago, East Lansing, LA, and the SF Bay Area. Then she settled in Cincinnati, her home for the last 32 years.
Mireille spoke three languages fluently: French, English, and Creole. She was a wonderful cook, and once worked as a prep chef for the famed Wente Brothers winery in Livermore, CA. She had a flair for interior decorating with a fond eye for Italian pottery. Mireille was an avid fan of the Three Tenors, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Jane Austin. And she loved all animals, especially her dog Ollie. During her career, Mireille worked as a phlebotomist and spent many years in customer service. After moving to Cincinnati, she found great success in sales as well.
Mireille is survived by her ex-husband and lifelong friend, Richard Kissing; her son, Shaun Kissing; daughter-in-law, Erin Lucarelli; and her sisters Renée Tribié and Carole Lavelanet. She is preceded in death by her parents and her three brothers, Gerald, Robert, and Patrick.
