Michael Kelly Hatfield

February 25, 1965 — April 17, 2017

HATFIELD, Michael Kelly, Resident of Batavia, 4/17/17, age 52. Devoted husband of 22 years to his beloved wife Chrissi Hatfield (nee Burch) and loving father of Charlie and Cati Hatfield. Beloved son of Charles and Vonnie (nee McNealy) Hatfield. Cherished brother of John (Mindy) Hatfield, Rob (Becky) Hatfield, Suzanne (Todd) Conner and Nancy (Charles) Olind. Son-in-law of Stan and Rose Ann Burch and brother-in-law of Connie Burch and Brian (Kelly) Burch. Uncle of Corin, Morgan, Max, Emily, Hannah, Sam, Lexi, Robert, Michael, Nathan and Kyle. Also survived by a host of other loving relatives, friends and players. A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 1 PM until the Celebration of Life service 2 PM all at the Batavia High School gymnasium, 1 Bulldog Place. Immediately following the service there will be a reception in the lunch room of the high school until 5 PM so family and friends can continue sharing their memories of Mike and celebrating the impact he had on so many. Mike was a loving father and husband and a terrific friend. To those who knew and loved him, he shared great love, joy and laughter. He will be sorely missed by all. Michael was born on Feb. 25, 1965 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He grew up in Mt. Carmel and attended school in the West Clermont School District. He continued his education and graduated from the College of Wooster with a degree in education in 1987. He also attended Xavier University where he earned his Master’s degree. Mike started his teaching career first at Aiken Schools where he also was an assistant boys basketball coach. He then taught at the Glen Este High School and was the girl’s head basketball coach. From there he moved to Taft High School where he also coached boys basketball. Mike finished his teaching and coaching journey at Batavia High School where he taught 18 years and coached basketball, track and golf. You are encouraged to wear your spirit wear from your school to the service. Memorials requested to the scholarship in Mike's name.
