Katherine O’Toole

April 23, 1940 — May 20, 2023

On the morning of May 20, 2023, Kay O'Toole (neé Diver) passed away peacefully in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a loving mother with an infectious sense of humor and an adventurous spirit.

At the age of 31, Kay moved her 5 children to Felixstowe, England where her then-husband Bob, was transferred to lead a British company. Fully embracing the 3-year adventure, Kay traveled her young family to six European countries, planned Sunday after-church excursions to castles and even had tea with Queen Elizabeth II at Windsor Castle.

After her children were grown, Kay fell in love with snorkeling and for several years, traveled for up to a month at a time to the Caribbean and Bahamas. On the islands, her days were filled with swimming with turtles, collecting shells and luxuriating in ocean life.

Kay's next adventure began with selling her home and purchasing an RV. She became a "full-timer" and traveled the United States for several years. She loved visiting and learning about the beauty and uniqueness of this country.

When it came time to settle down again, Kay rehabbed 2 houses - a corncob pipe factory built in the 1800s in Arkansas and a historic home in New Hampshire. She loved antiquing and opened her own store in New Hampshire.

Born April 23, 1940, Kay grew up on the south side of Chicago and attended St. Sabina Grade School and Mercy High School. Kay was preceded in death by her mother Catherine (neé O'Brien), father John, sisters Dorothy Jean and Pat R.S.M, and brother Jack.

Kay is survived by her former husband, Robert O'Toole, and their children, Bill O'Toole, Patti O'Toole (John Krygier), Tim O'Toole (Mari), Kathleen O'Toole (Matt Miszewski) and Turtle O'Toole (Peri Pakroo), 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and dog Rosie.

A mass will be said in her honor at St. Francis Seraph Parish, Sunday July 23, 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the ASPCA.
