Karla S. Johnston

Johnston, Karla (nee Shawver) passed away on June 27, 2022, at the age of 82 in Anderson Township, OH. She was born January 11, 1940, in Mason WVA to her parents Jane Miller Shawver Simmonds and Carl Parsons Shawver. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepdad Harold Francis Simmonds. She was the Loving mother of Angela J. Gammon (Gregg) and Steven D. Johnston (Susan) and devoted grandma to Alex, Justin, Jayna, Sophia, Holden and grand-dog Bella. She had so many wonderful friends, was an avid animal lover, LOVED music, volunteering, and making people laugh. It was in her blood and in her heart to help people. She would do anything for anyone. She was a well-loved and lifetime member of the Gateway Country Music Association ('GCMA').

To honor Karla's memory, a Celebration of Life will be held on 7/22/22 at The Chain Bar & Grill from 4-7pm located at 584 Highway 00 Old Monroe, MO 63369. We ask attendees to wear purple, her favorite color.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Missouri or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
