John R. Vance

U.S. Navy, Vietnam Veteran, John R. Vance II, age 76, of Williamsburg, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on June 8, 2020. He was born on December 29, 1943 to the late John R. and Angela (nee Mannino) Vance. Devoted husband of 51 years to Virginia M. (nee DuCharme). Loving father of Renee Marie (Michael Wright) Vance and Melissa Ann (Steve) Huber. Step-father of Lieta Faye (Rick) Scharber, Derek Joseph (Rhonda) Michalski and Craig Steven Michalski. Cherished grandfather of Sierra Fields (Morgan Walker), Joe "Joey" (Amy) Bryant, Cory (Morgan) Bryant, Sarah (Mark) Teremi, Heather (Nick) Goslin, Makayla Scharber, Ryan (Morgan) Michalski, Nick Michalski, Steven Michalski and Stephanie (Taylor) McCollum. Adored great-grandfather of Emma Bryant, Kate Teremi, Aden Teremi, Noah Teremi, Dax Michalski and Hunter Goslin. Dear brother of Joyce (Robert "Bob") Wendell and the late James Vance. John was proud to have served in the United States Navy as an electrician and continued that trade in his civilian life for many years. In the past 30 years he owned and operated, with his loving wife Virginia, Marilyn's Treats and Mountain BBQ in a host of venues such as local and state fairs, festivals and weddings in many states like IN, KY and OH. He was a member of the #428 Gerard F & AM Lodge in Newtown, OH, Scottish Rite, Syrian Shrine and Mt. Orab Christian Church. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
