US ARMY VETERAN - James A. Ward, "Jim", joined his fallen comrades on July 5, 2024. Born February 27, 1936, in Cincinnati, OH to the late John F. and Elsie (nee Brick) Ward. Devoted husband of 64 years to Betty (nee Holden) Ward. Loving Father of Cathy (Donn) Chesley. Beloved Grandfather of Jake (Lauren) Chesley and Sara (Cody) Bishop. Caring Brother of the late Don and Jackie Ward.
Jim’s days started like any other for him, early with a cup of black coffee and the newspaper. The coffee he picked up from his time in the Army at the start of Vietnam, but the newspaper he picked up when he got back. From there, he would look at his schedule for the day, which either consisted of going to one of his grandkids’ activities to support them, spending the day with Betty and working around the yard – which he loved, or spending time with family and friends out on the golf course. A rainy day wouldn't stop anything he scheduled and would even come home soaked from rain after 18 holes, joking with everyone that "it never rains on the golf course." He would then head out, with all the caring and kindness he could muster, representing his family, and brothers in J. B. Covert Masonic Lodge and The Scottish Rite, to the best of his character.
He was caring, loving, and kind to all those who knew him, which he showed with jokes. The "Happy Grumpy Goofball" would make you laugh and play around any chance he got.
A time for visitation will take place Saturday July 13, 2024, from 3pm to 4pm at Moore Family Funeral Home - 6708 Main St. Newtown, OH 45244. A Masonic service will begin at 4pm, followed by funeral service and finally Military Honors will be rendered.
