Born on July 2, 1947 in Butler, GA, Frank was the son of Elizabeth Olive Jordan and Frank Jossey Jordan, Sr. He grew up in Talbotton, GA enjoying all that a small town and his family’s farm and timberlands offered, including a big backyard filled with friends and cousins, grandparents and extended family nearby, and close proximity to lakes and land for hunting and fishing. He graduated from Talbot County High School in 1965, was Star Student of his class, played on the basketball team and was a member of the band. At Mercer University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude in 1969, he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity and was in ROTC. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University in 1972. Following graduation, he served in the US Army from which he was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant.
Frank was admitted to the Georgia Bar in 1972 and had a private law practice in Talbotton for 28 years. In 2000 he was appointed to the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit Superior Court bench where he served until his retirement on December 31, 2017. During his tenure as judge, he initiated and presided over the Adult Drug Court Program in the Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit.
Frank was a member of the Talbotton Baptist Church and served on its Board of Deacons. He was a member of the Talbotton Lions Club, the Columbus Rotary Club, the Board of Visitors of Mercer University, and was a former member of the Talbot County Board of Education. He served as President of the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Districts, as President of Three Rivers Rural Conservation District, on the Board of the Georgia Forestry Commission and was selected as Georgia Tree Farmer of the Year.
In December of 1969, Frank married Pam Ingram, his high school sweetheart, and they shared over 54 years of devoted marriage. They raised their children, Cydney and Frank, III (Bubba) in Talbotton, the hometown where they both grew up, and on the Jordan family farm which for five generations has been at the core of the family’s life. As a boy, Frank followed in his father’s footsteps learning to grow and harvest peaches, raise cattle, collect eggs and grow pine trees. He passed along his love of the land to his children and grandchildren, sharing with them hours of hunting with his beloved bird dogs, fishing, fly fishing, and treasure hunts for deer antlers, “dinosaur” bones, and hidden candy and prizes. He even named a tree on the farm after each of his grandchildren and took them to see their tree on each visit they made to the farm. Beyond the close environs of his home, Frank enjoyed many beach trips with his family, international travel, hunting and fishing trips, and golfing.
Frank is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pam Ingram Jordan, his daughter Cydney Jordan Frye and her husband, Kevin, of Cincinnati, Ohio, his son, Frank Jossey Jordan, III and his wife, Carolyn, of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren, Jossey, Ally, Lindsey, Will, and Tucker Frye, Frank, IV, and Ceile Jordan. He is also survived by a brother, Raines Jordan (Sally) and a sister, Betty Jordan Lippitt (Nathaniel); by brother-in-law, Jeff Ingram (Tiffany) and sister-in-law, Suzanne Ingram Wilson (Steve), and by a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents.
The family would like to thank the staffs of The Kenwood by Senior Star and Queen City Hospice, both in Cincinnati, Ohio for the care and support they provided to Frank during his last months of life.
