Ennes “Sonny” Ireton, Jr., 80, passed peacefully into his heavenly home, surrounded by his loving family on June 18, 2020. He was born to the late Ennes A. and Margaret L. (Lawler) Ireton on May 6, 1940 at home on the family farm near Laurel, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joyce Kyle. Sonny was a veteran and served his country in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Wasp. He retired from Kroger Company after 42 years; working at the Bethel, Mount Washington, Batavia, and Loveland stores as head produce manager. He loved his family, his friends, his farm, and his beloved dogs.
Sonny is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 20 years, Penny K. (Zurmehly) Ireton. He was the cherished father of Carolyn K. (Roy) Herbolt, Ennes (Kim) Ireton III, Melissa A. (Brad) Kidwell, C.W. Fite, Victoria L. (Jeff) Stewart, and Jonathan B. (Ayumi) Ireton. He is survived by his 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Sonny is also survived by his sisters, Betty Campbell and Patti Kinney, nieces and nephews, and a host of loving and cherished friends. Family will receive friends Tuesday June 23 2020 from 11 AM to time of service 1 PM at Moore Family Funeral Home, 225 Spring Street, Batavia, OH. Interment Batavia Union Cemetery.
