Douglas Wayne Berlier, age 73, passed away on January 16, 2025. Born and raised in a close-knit family, Doug was the beloved husband of Nancy and devoted father to his two children, Jacob and Anne, and Son-in-Law Adam Walker. He was a cherished grandfather to Ava and Aleia, who brought him much joy. Doug and his wife hosted 11 students from Brazil, Columbia, and China who he supported and loved.

A proud graduate of St. Xavier High School and Xavier University, Doug remained a dedicated fan of the Xavier Musketeer men’s basketball team throughout his life. His passion for his alma mater was only rivaled by FC Cincinnati where he was an inaugural season ticket holder.

Doug spent many years working for Franklin Savings, Fluor Fernald and General Electric. He was always known for his exuberant passion, energetic spirit, and drive to help those around him. His warmth and humor were always a balm for those in need.

As the oldest of seven children, Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Dora Mae Berlier. He is survived by brothers David and Bob (Linda), and his sisters Nan (Vincent) Kish, Liz (Rob) Hicks, Mary (Al) Broadway, and Judy (Al) Smith, sister-in-law Dorette Landis, brother-in-law Wayne Landis, Aunts Ann Slater and Kay Anderson, and 24 nieces and nephews. His family meant the world to him, and he took great joy in the close bonds they shared.

Doug will be remembered for his strength of spirit, his cheerful humor, and his unwavering devotion to his family. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he touched, and he will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m Thursday, Jan. 23 at St. John Fisher Church in Newtown with Mass at 10 a.m. A private commitment ceremony will be held at Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date.
